Hello to All Women and Families in Motion!
Welcome!
Did you know that in the United States, most citizens spend more on their automobile maintenance than they do on their body for preventive health care?
Obviously, you can buy another car, but you can't buy another body.
If you are of the Christian faith, you know that your body is your temple, but most of us just don't give that much thought to our health until we get sick. We tend to take "good" health for granted.
Most doctors, while very proficient at what they do, know how to diagnose, prescribe medications and perform surgery, but they don't tell you much about how to get healthy or stay healthy. If we have a broken leg, or need stitches, our doctors are superb!
But, it's really up to us to be informed consumers about what to do to stay healthy.
My advice is, If you want to get healthy and stay healthy, follow the Trinity of Good Health - Exercise, Weight Management and Supplements.
The Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Sports Magazine tell us that we need 30 minutes of vigorous exercise each day. When you think about it, that's only 3.5 hours out of 168 hours that we have each week.
Weight management is a bit more of a challenge. Lets face it. We are a fast food generation. It's less expensive and easier on us to go to the drive up window. It's more expensive to eat fresh fruit and vegetables than it is go satisfy our immediate hunger going through the drive up window for us and for our kids.
It takes time to peel and orange, it takes time to make a salad. But it's worth the time. Being prepared is half the battle when it comes to a healthy, nutritious meal.
Most of our foods today have less than half the nutrients in them that they did half a century ago. Fruits and vegetables have to be picked green and shipped across country.
We need good multivitamins to take up the slack for our fast food treks and our foods that just don't have the nutrients we need.
Please, lets do us all a favor - our kids and ourselves! Spend more time and attention to our bodies than we do on our cars!
